God Protects The Upright

God Protects The Upright

What does it look like to walk with true integrity, even when it feels easier to take shortcuts? In today's episode, host Lauren Alessi invites us to explore the wisdom found in Proverbs 2 and what it means for God to be our shield and protector when we strive to live upright, blameless lives. Together, we'll reflect on how walking in integrity may not always offer instant rewards, but how God promises to guard and bless those who remain faithful to Him. We'll consider the everyday areas where it’s tempting to compromise and how choosing wisdom and character can transform our journey.

Join our community in prayer and devotion as we seek God’s guidance to reveal areas where we can grow in integrity, trusting Him to protect and provide every step of the way.

You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1347. Today's Devo is called Protects the Upright. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:22.320 --> 00:00:59.579
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi and I will be your host for this week. And I am excited because we are reading through this whole month through the Book of Proverbs and learning more about wisdom and just trying to gain insight and understanding not just from the world, but from the truth of God and his word. If you joined us yesterday, we read out of Proverbs 1 and you also learned that Lauren does not mean wisdom. And that was super embarrassing.

00:00:59.579 --> 00:01:33.430
But it's okay. We're going to move on today to Proverbs 2. And we're going to be reading out of Proverbs 2, 7, 8. And it says this. He holds success in store for the upright. He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. You know something I really love about the Book of Proverbs, and if you haven't really done an individual study into the Book of Proverbs, I really highly suggest you do it. Because every other chapter, every other book of the Bible is kind of.

00:01:34.310 --> 00:02:11.340
It's different, it takes on a different narrative. I would say some are storytelling, some are history. Right. Some are allegory, some are just. Just very interesting. But Proverbs is literally like a manual. It's almost like a recipe book. It's like, like, do this, do that, here's the next step, and then you'll see a beautiful life. And it's really interesting to compare that to the other books of the Bible. And here you can sort of see an example of that. And it's talking about how God, sort of the result of walking in wisdom, it says he holds success in store for the upright. He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.

00:02:11.659 --> 00:03:25.289
And for he guards the course of the justice and protects the way of his faithful ones. And one thing I love about the Book of Proverbs is it's not just showing you the result, but it also gives you the manual of how to be one of the faithful ones, of how to be one of those whose walk is blameless, of how to be a person who is upright, how to be a person who is just. So that God can hold success in store for you, so that the Lord can act as a shield to those who are blameless, so that he can guard the course of the just and protect the way of his faithful ones. But I can tell you this, walking with integrity may not always seem rewarding in the short term. And I think we see this a lot, maybe in people around us. But even if we look to the stories in the Bible, walking with integrity doesn't always seem rewarding in the short term. I think of Joseph, took him a long time to walk with integrity and then finally see the reward of that. But God himself is your shield. When we look at people in the Bible, the people elevating them to success. If you look at Joseph, it wasn't man elevating him, it wasn't man rewarding him, it was God.

00:03:25.849 --> 00:03:59.530
He guards the Lord guards and protects those who stay faithful to him. And his wisdom doesn't just teach you what to do. This is super important when reading the book of Proverbs. Yes, it is a manual, but it's not just about to teach you what to do. It's not just about saying, okay, now take this step, but it's also about becoming a protection against what can become a pitfall and what can become a trap. And that's why it says, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. So let's do this.

00:03:59.530 --> 00:04:13.860
Let's look at one area of our life where it can be very easy to not walk in wisdom, where it can be very easy to want to cut corners. Because here it says, he holds success in store for the upright whose walk is blameless.

00:04:14.020 --> 00:04:57.529
But where is there an easy area of your life where it's easy for you to sort of take the backseat and relax a little bit and maybe not walk a blameless life? And how would it look to walk in complete integrity and full of character and trust and faith in God, trusting that God will protect you and provide for you? Is that in your relationships? Is that in your career, whatever that may look like, whatever area of your life where it's easy to not walk. In total blamelessness, in total integrity, in total wisdom. Give that to God and watch how he will protect and provide when you decide to walk in total integrity and blamelessness.

00:04:58.500 --> 00:05:17.500
Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you so much that you are a just God, that Lord, you want to bless us Lord, but you want to bless us when we do things right. And Lord, we pray if there's anything, any area of our life, Lord that we are not walking in total integrity, Lord that we're not walking in total blamelessness.

00:05:17.500 --> 00:05:42.879
Lord, reveal that to us God. Because Lord, we want to see the success that you have in store for us. But Lord, we know that we have to walk in integrity in order to do so, Lord. So reveal that to us, Lord. And as we continue on with this study, Lord, reveal to us how we can keep walking in wisdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
