Lauren Alessi Burgos

Hello, everyone. My name is Lauren Burgos, and I am your host for this week. And we are looking at the verses we know and the truth we need. So we looked at Jeremiah 29:11 on Monday. Yesterday we looked at Psalm 23.1, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. And we're just revisiting these verses again. Let me clarify. It's not because they lose their impact of the strength, because they're it's the word of God. It's always going to be impactful. It's that so many times, at least me, I see them overused a lot. I go to Target or I go, not Target, I go to Hobby Lobby and I see them on mugs and pillows, and I'm on Pinterest and I see them in like phone backgrounds. That it's just like I'm used to it by now. But sometimes when I sit and I meditate with these verses, it hits me in a whole new way. And so that's the basically the whole point of this week. The verses we know and the truth we need. And I hope it blesses you. So today we're talking about how God loves you. If you don't know that, that's important to know. God loves you. And we are reading out of possibly the most known verse, I think, maybe of all time. And it's John 3.16. And it says this. If you know it, let's say it together. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. It's funny because whenever people like say this in unison, it's so well known that when it gets to his one and only son, some people say begotten son. That like it's funny, people we say it differently. That he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. What does this verse show us? That the entire gospel can be summed up in this one verse and three very simple principles. God loves, God gives, and God saves. That is the basic foundation of the gospel is that right there. That's not all you need to know about the gospel because there's much more, but that's the basic foundation of the gospel. God loves, God gives, and God saves. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him and his son shall not perish to hell, shall not perish on earth, but have eternal, everlasting everlasting life in heaven. And I think as humans, again, we hear this verse and we know it and we can quote it, and it's like boom, John 3.16. If you watched, um, if you like watched football growing up, you know of Tim Tebow, and Tim Tebow wore it on like his face and his stickers, and he made the verse even more popular. Uh, my husband and and some friends were watching like um some some like I think it was MMA or or I don't know, some sport the other night, and some guy won and he was like out of nowhere, so random, they're like, What do you want to say? And he's like, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and all. It was it was beautiful, but very random. So we see this verse a lot. But I think as humans, we truly have a hard time understanding this. Why? Because what do we do as humans? We understand or we think in order to get love, we have to earn love. We have to work towards love. Um, we spend our entire lives trying to earn love or approval or acceptance from people. And it's like you see this with dating. It's like, no, I have to try to get them to like me. I have to try to get them to love me. And what do we see from God? He's like, I already loved you. I already love the world. And think of it, at your worst point, before you got your life together, before you fixed yourself, before you truly came into yourself as Christ, God loved you even before that. He gave his son because he loved the world before we were even set straight. God so loved the world, he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him, whoever comes into agreement with that fact that God loves the world and believes in God and understands that that Christ is the savior, Christ is the king, whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal and everlasting life. So no matter where you are, no matter what you think, this the gospel isn't so complicated. And I see this a lot in Christianity. It's like we have to pick apart and and like this YouTube video has to open up another YouTube video and dissect every little thing they said. I think there's a time and place for that, but the gospel is not so complicated. It is this simple. God loves, God gives, and God saves. And if if you love God, that's the first commandment. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your soul. Why? Because he loves you. So love God. God loves you, God gave his son, believe that he gave his son for us and for the whole world, that God is coming back again. That's that's a different principle. But, anyways, and that God can save you. God can save you right where you're at. If you're already a Christian and you're facing something hard, God can save you from that. If you're not a Christian and you stumbled upon this episode, God can save you right where you're at. But let us remember this verse right here, because this is the principle of the gospel. God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, and whoever believes in him shall not perish to hell, but have eternal life in heaven. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for your word, God. Lord, we thank you for the gospel, and Lord, help us not to complicate it. Confusion comes from the enemy, God. So we just rebuke any confusion that may come with the gospel, and we just pray right now. Help us not to complicate the gospel. It is very simple, and that is that you love us, that you gave your son for us, and that you can save us. And help us to truly grasp that. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
