God Isn’t Finished | Daily Devotional 1655

Have you ever been in a season where everything felt uncertain, and you wondered whether God was still working in your life?

In today's episode, Richelle Alessi closes out our first week studying the book of Ruth by reflecting on the powerful lessons we've learned from Ruth chapter 1. Through Naomi's heartbreaking losses, Ruth's unwavering loyalty, and their decision to move forward in faith, we're reminded that God is still working even when we cannot see what He's doing.

We'll be challenged to look beyond our current circumstances and recognize that God's plans are often bigger than anything we could imagine. Ruth had no idea that her faithfulness and obedience would become part of a story that would impact generations, eventually placing her in the lineage of Jesus Christ. In the same way, the decisions we make today to trust God, remain faithful to His Word, and follow His direction can leave a lasting impact on the generations that come after us. Our difficult seasons aren't necessarily the end of our story, and God is still able to bring redemption and purpose from what we've experienced.

Let's join in prayer and devotion as a community, asking God to strengthen our faith, remind us of His power to redeem, and help us live with the confidence that He isn't finished writing our story.

Richelle Alessi

Good morning, everybody, and welcome back to My Morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Rochelle Alesi, and I was your host this week. This week is coming to an end, but this is the beginning of a new month, so it's the end of something, but the beginning of something grade two, all at the same time. And I am just so excited for the rest of the month because we are going to be studying Ruth. And even though chapter one is a little hard to read because it's so sad in some ways, like the title of this episode, God Isn't Finished, and you guys are about to step in such a beautiful story next week and the week after. So please stay tuned. Continue to read it because this is such a beautiful story. And today, guys, instead of going through a verse, I want to recap the week and just end this with a fun fact about Ruth. Because when we say God isn't finished, God isn't finished. And when we obey God, the way that the Lord moves and the way that the Lord is, man, it's gonna be so hard to even find ways to explain our lives to people because of how good God is. And we started this story with Naomi losing her husband and then losing her sons, which left um two girls, which one of them being Ruth, being widowed so early on in their lives. And there's this back and forth about them going back to town and leaving Naomi and what's gonna be with their lives now. And then we go into Naomi experience going back home with Ruth and and experiencing such a low where she even questions who she is, and she starts to say things about what she thinks her life has become and what the Lord sees in her, but man, Naomi stays, and that chapter truly ends with setting it up for the next. And we we talked about yesterday how just taking the right next step could be the right thing for you even when you don't feel it, because the Lord is at work at all times, even when we don't feel it. And there's verses about that, there's songs about that, but guys, that's true in your life. It's not just a fun Christian saying we say because it sounds good in a song, or it sounds kind of clever, and it would be a great quote to post. These are real words that the Lord is with you and that he's working even when you don't see it. And it's so crazy because when you continue to study this, and I'm not this won't take away from the rest of the month, but I even asked my husband because he is he studied theology, and before I came on here to record this week, I asked him, I'm like, hey, look, I'm doing uh the first week with the book of Ruth, chapter one. Is there any like fun facts or things that you know about her? And he was like, Man, first of all, that's such a beautiful study for you guys to do. But a cool thing about Ruth is that she's actually in the lineage of Jesus, and the book of Ruth is like right after Judges, and then it goes into like the first and second Samuel, first and second kings, and the story of like all the kings and King David. And when you think about it, Ruth would have been like a great, great, great grandmother or aunt to David, and then we know that Jesus is in the lineage of David, which means Ruth is connected to Jesus, and that is such a beautiful thing of like God isn't finished, you don't know what a thousand years from now will look like, and maybe that's too much, even 50 years or 80 years from now will look like, but when you trust the Lord, when you say, I'm going to have faith and take that right next step and talk to him, even when I'm angry or mad or happy or joyful or encouraged, when you decide to do your life with God no matter what, guys, there's a lineage right in front of you, 50, 100 years from now, that you could not even imagine yet. Because God isn't finished. It's not just with you, but with your kids and your grandkids and and and everything that comes after. And when we zoom out of ourselves and we look at this story and what Ruth's choice was, right? What her choice was that it led all the way down to even the lineage of Jesus, it just encouraged us to say the whole time it wasn't even about her, but God used her, her obedience, her loyalty, her faith led to saying, I'm going to use her. And that's a beautiful picture for us today. That when we choose to trust God no matter what, believe in him, choose loyalty, choose faithfulness, choose his principles, choose his words no matter what anybody else says. Man, God is gonna look at us and say, Hey, that's somebody I can use for generations to come. And you feel so honored, yeah, I want the Lord to use me, but when he does, God, it brings glory to him, not us. And when you realize, man, I can be used by him and I can bring glory to him, even what's right in front of you, as painful as it is, you're like, he will carry me through, he will help me, he will bless me, redeem this. The Lord is a redeemer. We see how he redeems, and I can't get to it. I want to, but I can't. But it's gonna be so beautiful how we see how the Lord redeems Ruth and and and Naomi and the whole story. And so I I pray that you see today that the Lord has a lot yet to redeem, and that he has the power to redeem when you trust him and he chooses to use you. So let's pray. Let's end this week strong and then we look forward to next. Dear Father God, thank you so much for your for your faithfulness, for your power of redemption. I pray that today we're convicted to choose you no matter what, that we are encouraged to believe in you, to have faith in you, to take your commandments, to take your word and write it on our hearts and let that be what heals us, what guides us, what protects us. And that in all of it, Father, you use us for your glory for generations to come. Let us be a light of who you are. That yes, our life story will show you, but that it will bring glory to you, not just showing you, but bringing glory to you in years to come. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
