You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1491. Today's devo is called God Holds Tomorrow. Hey there, we're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.310 --> 00:01:01.716
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, happy Monday everybody. Welcome back to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. This is your host for the week, Gabby Coladiude, and I'm excited as we are getting into a really unique discussion or theme, if you wanna call it topic of the month. What we're telling, we're, we're talking about internal consistencies. That is a tongue twister, so I, forgive me if I'm all over the place. But we're each breaking down in, in all of our weeks, the inconsistencies in our lives. And this is how I see it.

00:01:01.716 --> 00:01:29.200
The inconsistencies in our lives are little foxes or little weeds that pop up in our garden. And if we're not careful, they might not be an immediate threat for right now, but throughout time, the more that they grow or the more that those foxes come around and they're unchecked. Or they're not shooed away, they will quickly take over and ruin the harvest and the seeds and what you're sowing in your garden.

00:01:29.200 --> 00:02:07.683
These inconsistencies or these blind spots over time can actually ruin the development that we've had in honoring Jesus and in honoring the Lord and in our walk with the Lord. And so these inconsistencies, they are things that us girls, you know, we're going into our life, we're kind of opening up our hearts and being a little bit vulnerable. These might be things that we struggle with, but we also know that these are things that others struggle with. And the first one that I want to talk about today is fear of tomorrow, fear of the unknown. Isaiah 41: 10, you've heard this verse. It says, so do not fear, for I am with you.

00:02:07.683 --> 00:02:53.707
Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous hand. Now, this is a verse where God is speaking to Isaiah to tell his people, the Israelite people. He's saying, "Don't be afraid." Why is he saying this? They are going into Babylonian exile, meaning everything they once knew, the culture they once had, the home they once had is now gone. They're living in a new land with new leadership, with a new religion, with a new way of life. Everything they knew Everything that was comfortable to them is now changed. It's gone. It's different. In fact, now they're living in a land where they— the people serve a different god.

00:02:53.707 --> 00:02:58.020
This has the, the potential to build up a lot of fear.

00:02:58.020 --> 00:03:12.998
This has the potential to build up a lot of fear. If they're not careful, they'll quickly run into the hands of another god, another belief system, another culture, because they don't know what is going to happen the next day. These people don't know where they're going to live.

00:03:12.998 --> 00:04:06.573
They don't know what's going to happen with their children. They don't know what's going to happen to, to their grandchildren. They don't know how long this exile is going to last. Yes, God gave them a prophecy of what's to come. He's even in this verse, he's prophesying Jesus the Messiah to come, but they don't have a timeline. They don't know the details. They're just having to go in blindly and put their trust in the Lord. And here's what's happening. If they're not careful, they will either serve God and lean on God, or the, the pressure of their, their circumstance will overcome them and convince them to rely on fear. Because fear can also be a false god that we will create, that we will serve, and that we will start to follow. Fear of the unknown. Who holds your tomorrow? What's going to happen tomorrow?

00:04:06.573 --> 00:04:21.327
What's going to happen with your children, your spouse? If we dwell on that too long and we think about that too long and we fall into that uneasiness and stress and anxiety of what's to come, right, then we will make fear our God.

00:04:21.327 --> 00:04:37.524
We will start to learn from it. We'll start to listen to it because fear does speak. We'll start to listen to it, we'll start to talk like it, and then we'll start to tell others what fear is telling us. We won't just keep it for ourselves, then we'll start to put it on other people.

00:04:37.524 --> 00:04:47.827
I've had, I've had moments where I've been very fearful about something. It was even just about buying our house, you know, is it going to go through? We got the offer, but are we going to be able to afford it? What's going on?

00:04:47.827 --> 00:04:54.221
I was so fearful. I got around somebody and we told them, hey, you know, this place accepted our offer on our house. This was back last year.

00:04:54.221 --> 00:05:05.971
And she goes, oh, that's not gonna go through. So what do you mean? And she goes, the same thing happened to my daughter. The roof wasn't this, and then this happened, and blah, blah, blah. It'll never happen for you guys.

00:05:05.971 --> 00:05:49.124
No, no, no, don't, don't trust in that. I'm sorry, you, you guys should start looking elsewhere. And her fear, and because of what happened to her, it started to get on me. And I really had to have a moment where I'm like, God, I don't serve fear. I don't follow fear. That is not my God. You are. You see, maybe in your life right now you received a report, something's going on with your kids, your spouse, your job, whatever might happen. Maybe you lost your job and you don't know what's to come. You have to remind yourself you don't serve fear. Fear talks, and fear might tell you about tomorrow, but fear doesn't hold tomorrow. Fear has no power no authority, and no knowledge of what's to come.

00:05:49.124 --> 00:05:57.216
You know who does? God does. God has all power, God has all authority, and God holds our tomorrows.

00:05:57.216 --> 00:06:00.901
So we can trust that maybe we don't see it, but he does.

00:06:00.901 --> 00:06:20.213
And in the midst of the season, in the midst of whatever issues we're going through, whatever season that we are going through that's bringing us fear, whatever it is, we can trust we don't have to fear because God's with us. We don't have to be dismayed because he is our God. He will strengthen us and he will help us.

00:06:20.213 --> 00:07:17.115
That is the truth that is— that we hold on to. That is the God we serve, not fear. So don't let the inconsistency of fear hold you back from living a life that is pleasing to God. Lord, we just thank you for your strength. We thank you for your comfort. We thank you for your grace that You are with us, Father. We just speak against all fear in Jesus' name, that it has no power or authority over us. Fear does not hold our tomorrows, God. You do. So we serve you faithfully, we obey you faithfully, and we ask that you give us the strength and the endurance to serve you and to love you through this season. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
