You're listening to My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1399. Today's Devo is called the Gift of the Holy Spirit. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.600 --> 00:01:05.579
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Thursday. My name is Rachelle Alessi and I've loved being with you guys this week. I love that we've continued our theme of just being grateful for what God has done. And we've been starting our morning by just sharing what we're grateful for personally and then going into what we're grateful for that the Lord has done done not just personally, but just in the overall earth. Today I want to say what I'm grateful for. I mentioned how grateful I am for many things and today I just want to say I'm grateful for my son.
00:01:06.219 --> 00:02:52.229
I love my son Marino. He is such a fun boy. He's in. He's two years old right now and we've been sleep training him. So please pray for me. My husband's taking most of it because I'm pregnant right now and so he's helping me a ton. But he's been so amazing and in the middle of so much change and everything. He's really the light of our home. He's so much fun and I love him and I'm grateful that God gave him to me. Sometimes I look at him and I'm like, we don't deserve how amazing you are, but God gives us beautiful, beautiful gifts and I'm just thankful for him. So let's get right into our devo and today I'm going to be reading from John, John 14, 16, 17. And it says, and I will ask the Father and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. The spirit of truth. He lives with you and will be in you. This is Jesus saying that he was, when he went back to heaven, that something better was going to come. And that was the Holy Spirit. And I love that because I think about when God came. So we've talked about God's creation. We've talked about God forgiving our sins and redeeming us. Then we talked about the resurrection and how not only did he forgive us and redeem us, but now we are Victors. Through him. And now we are saying that even through all those gifts, the Lord still had more for us. And that was the Holy Spirit.
00:02:52.870 --> 00:03:18.500
Another advocate to help us. It literally says the verse says, another advocate to help you and be with you forever. Not to be with me three hours a day, not to be with me only at night, or only to be with me when I'm scared of what I'm going through. Something it says to be with you forever. The spirit of truth that lives with you and will be in you.
00:03:19.460 --> 00:03:30.259
So it's not only a help that I get today and tomorrow, but it's the help that I get forever and that it's in me. It's not somebody outside that I call.
00:03:31.219 --> 00:03:45.939
It's access that we get to the Lord through the Holy Spirit every single day, Day. And how beautiful is that? That was the Lord's plan. And the more that we read scripture and the more that we see the revelation of God.
00:03:46.180 --> 00:04:08.090
I, I read this verse and I know I've read it, but it hit me so hard because God wants to dwell with us. God wants to dwell in us. He take. He wants to be with us. And he gave us another gift and that is the Holy Spirit. So he can be in us every single day and forever.
00:04:08.729 --> 00:04:41.399
And sometimes we take for granted that the Holy Spirit is in us forever. Every single day. It's like we forget it and it's dormant and we don't access that part of our life. But as Christians, if the Lord has given us a gift, we can't take it for granted. We need to be grateful. We need to use it, we need to show it. We need to give God the praise and the glory that he deserves for giving us those gifts. And, and guys, know that you have access to God every single day through the Holy Spirit, our helper.
00:04:42.439 --> 00:04:46.040
You can talk to God whenever you want.
00:04:46.920 --> 00:04:54.399
You can be present and you can know the thoughts of God and you can have daily communication with the Lord.
00:04:54.399 --> 00:04:58.120
And the Lord can speak back to you and the Holy through the Holy Spirit.
00:04:58.120 --> 00:05:35.910
He guides you and he helps you and he gives you insight and he just reveals things for you. So I encourage you today and I'm encouraging myself today. I want you to know this week is more for me than anything else, reminding myself for the great things that the Lord has done. But how amazing that he gets to dwell in me. And if he's dwelling in me, I cannot numb that part of me. I cannot not access that part of me, because I have the best of the best. I have his forgiveness. I have his resurrection power.
00:05:36.310 --> 00:06:25.670
And now I get access to him through the Holy Spirit, who helps me every single day. And that goes to show how much the Lord really loves us and how he's created this plan to make sure that you and I are taken care of, that you and I have all we need. Because the Lord has really, really prepared the way for us. And he has created so many ways that we can be safe and guarded. Not that we have an easy life, there is going to be hard moments. But how amazing that we have the Holy Spirit helper in us forever to help us conquer those moments, to give us revelation, to get through some of the hardest moments in our life, to give us wisdom.
00:06:26.149 --> 00:06:51.269
Because if there's anything that these verses have proved the last couple of days is that the Lord cares for us and he sacrificed so much and made so many things possible for us so we could be protected at all sides. And it's on us to take those gifts and use them and now multiply them. Not to numb them, not to let it be the last resort, but to be the first thing that we do, the first person we run to.
00:06:51.910 --> 00:07:09.910
And I am just so grateful for that. And I could truly be. I could keep talking about this. So let's just pray and I encourage you that you continue this conversation for me with the people around you, that you start to remember all the great things that the Lord has done. So let's pray.
00:07:10.310 --> 00:07:21.470
Father, we just want to thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit that you promised to be with us forever and to be in us forever, that you want to help us.
00:07:21.870 --> 00:07:46.860
You have provided every way and everything we need to be victorious, Lord, because you care for us that much. Lord, if we hurt you want us to feel better. And you have provided in your word so so many words of comfort that are even your written words, things that you said when you were on this earth. Lord, you care for us.
00:07:48.060 --> 00:07:51.180
Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to help us.
00:07:51.579 --> 00:08:02.870
Thank you for dwelling in us, Father. It's a privilege as a Christian to have the Holy Spirit in us. Lord, we thank you for that and for all the great things that you have done.
00:08:03.189 --> 00:08:05.269
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
00:08:08.470 --> 00:08:29.509
