Get It Done

Get It Done

Do you ever feel tempted to check out from your responsibilities as the holiday season approaches? Today on My Morning Devotional, Richelle Alessi explores how we can finish the year strong by staying diligent—not letting our work and tasks slip away amidst the busyness of gift giving, travel, and celebrations. Together, we'll discover biblical encouragement from Colossians 3:23 and practical ways to embrace our responsibilities as blessings, setting ourselves up to fully enjoy the holidays and start 2026 on a high note.

Let’s come together for this uplifting devotional, praying as a community for diligence, gratitude, and a heart that seeks God even in our daily work.

Today's TiVo is called Get It Done.

00:00:08.080 --> 00:01:11.379
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody, and Happy Wednesday. My name is Rachelle Alessi, and I get to be your host this week. This week has been all about really winning our holiday season. And I know the year is coming to an end very, very soon, but there's still so much that we can enjoy from this year. And so I wanted just to make this week about winning the holiday season. No matter what it looks like for us, no matter the challenges or even the great things, we can win it, we can celebrate it, and we can really make the best of it. So we spend a couple of days on Monday and Tuesday talking about our mornings and talking about just staying steady.

00:01:11.859 --> 00:02:10.889
Today I want to talk about getting things done and not checking out. I know most of us listening probably have a job. During this season. It is so easy to start checking out from the things that we want to get done because we truly are so focused on family, on gift giving, on gift buying, on family coming into town or going out of town to see family. And this is the season for that. It really, really is. But there's also a season that we cannot ignore and a part of our lives that we cannot ignore. And that is our responsibilities, the work, and everything that's still waiting for us. And even though that's not the most fun subject to talk about, it is such a big part of our life. And so how about part of finishing our year strong is staying diligent and not drifting for the important things.

00:02:11.449 --> 00:02:37.590
Because the way that we finish will allow us to truly enjoy our holiday season. The way that we finish will truly help us fully check out when we get to check out and truly enjoy that time without having our minds full with the little things that are still pending that we didn't finish or we could have finished and we did not fully give it our attention.

00:02:37.909 --> 00:03:03.599
And so how about we together commit to not letting our responsibilities just drift, but staying diligent into finishing them together so then we can truly enjoy the holiday season and all the amazing things that we have planned without a burden behind us of the things that we need to do when we get back home or things that we should have done and now we're trying to rush through them.

00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:07.719
And so let's do that together. I personally have to commit to it.

00:03:07.719 --> 00:03:26.319
I have to do that. I need to make sure that I set up my year, I finish it and set up 2026 well so we can, so I can win my holiday season so I can truly, truly enjoy it. And there is this verse that we've read here multiple times, but I think it truly applies to

00:03:26.319 --> 00:03:41.120
23 and it says whatever you do, work at it with your whole heart as working for the Lord. And the truth is, whatever job we have is a gift from the Lord.

00:03:41.120 --> 00:04:14.439
It's the way that the Lord is providing for us at this moment. And so as much as we don't want to do it or thinking of checking out of it, we have to still do it for the Lord. And so leaving our work area, let's not fully check out. How about we get it done so then we can truly enjoy our holiday season. So let's pray together. Father God, thank you so much for this day. Thank you for our responsibilities that sometimes feel like a burden and but we forget the times that we pray for that and we got it and it's been a blessing.

00:04:14.599 --> 00:04:32.279
And so Lord, we thank you for our jobs, we thank you for our responsibilities and we just pray that you would help us finish strong in this year, that you would help us finish everything that we need to do so we can truly enjoy our holiday season and start a great 2026. In Jesus name we pray.

00:04:32.519 --> 00:04:54.899
Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotional empower you to take on your day.
