00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:04.000
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1401.

00:00:04.160 --> 00:00:06.719
Today's Devo is called Forward Thinking.

00:00:07.919 --> 00:01:00.570
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Monday. Stephanie here and very excited to continue in our series of what we are grateful for. I want to share with all of you the things that we can look forward to. You know, it's easy for us to get stuck in the past. It's natural for all of us to look behind to and wonder if maybe we've lived the best days. But today, on this lovely Monday. Good morning.

00:01:00.729 --> 00:01:07.689
I want to remind you that God has given you promises to hold onto for the future.

00:01:08.328 --> 00:01:11.650
You know, the word says a lot about the future being

00:01:11.650 --> 00:01:26.090
11 in the ESV version, it says, for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

00:01:27.049 --> 00:01:34.329
So the word doesn't say sorry, but if you had a really great college experience, you're probably not going to get those friends again.

00:01:34.810 --> 00:01:41.849
The word doesn't say sorry. The time in your high school was going to be the most fun. You'll never going to get that again. Sorry.

00:01:42.010 --> 00:02:19.250
Only having two kids is going to be easier to manage and much better for you, even though you're pregnant with your third. The word doesn't say that. The word says that the Lord has plans for good and not for evil. He has plans that give you a future and a hope. And Haggai says that the latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord. Meaning that the next days to come are going to be so much greater than than the days that have passed. So here's my challenge to you today.

00:02:19.810 --> 00:02:45.250
No matter what you feel, no matter what you see, just start speaking these promises and declaring them in your life that your next years will be greater than the past years. This next season is going to be so much more fun and joyous and peaceful than the season I just left. And let's get the thoughts of the past out of our mind. You know, for my honeymoon.

00:02:45.810 --> 00:03:04.370
Oh, it wasn't my honeymoon. It was my baby moon. Right before I had Gianna, my husband And I went to Spain and we were walking around Madrid and we planned to go on a bike ride that day. Well, that morning I was wearing a sock. It's the van socks. It's the ones that don't go all the way up your ankle.

00:03:04.530 --> 00:03:08.289
They're the type of socks that you wear with like flats or loafers or vans.

00:03:09.180 --> 00:03:16.539
And they kept sliding off my foot and getting jumbled in my shoe, which is like the biggest pet peeve for me.

00:03:17.020 --> 00:04:14.500
So that morning, we're leaving our hotel and we're about to go for this big walk, this big adventure in the day. And we are on a scooter trying to get to our location. And I'm telling my husband, hey, babe, something's wrong with my sock. It keeps getting jumbled. And I know that if I spend the rest of the day with this sock on, it's going to annoy the life out of me. So I made my husband turn around, go back to the hotel, and I changed my socks because I knew that, sure, in the morning, it's whatever I can get through it, but by the end of the day, I was going to be so annoyed by my sock. Well, it's the same with the past. It's harmless at first, but if you keep thinking about it, it'll really trip you up, those little thoughts of reminiscing. Ah, it's so nice. But the more that you center your mind around the past, the more you start to truly live in the past. So declare and confess in your prayer time this morning.

00:04:14.819 --> 00:05:17.160
Lord, I'm grateful that you have promised me a future and a hope. Lord, I'm grateful that the next days are going to be greater than the last days. The next years are going to be greater than the last years. No matter what it is we face, the Lord has a future and a hope for all of us. And one thing I know about God, he does not make empty promises. Let's pray. Father, we thank you that you have given us this promise of a future and hope. We've experienced loss, we've experienced separations, we've experienced some hard days. But Lord, your word says that you have a future and a hope for us and God. You do not change your mind. You do not make empty promises. You fulfill your word. So we step out in authority and we declare over our life that we are just stepping into the best days. And we're grateful for that, Jesus. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen.

00:05:17.889 --> 00:05:38.769
