You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1553. Today's Devo is called Faithfulness in the Ordinary. Hey there. We're the Alessi's, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone, My name is Lauren Burgos and I am your host for this week. And we are reading out of Proverbs 31 for this whole week. And we're talking out of just how we can glean from the Proverbs 31 Woman, but not just as married women or just women. No, we could glean from this woman from no matter who you are, because the word of God is applicable to all. If you missed yesterday's episode, I did make an announcement that I am releasing a book. It is specific to women, but I'm telling you it is applicable to everybody because I think men benefit from it. I think women benefit from it. I think if you're a teenager, you benefit from it. So that book is being released in the late summertime and it's called Did God Make Me Crazy? It's about women's hormones again. For more info, go to yesterday's episode and read up on it or listen to it a little bit more. But we will do a whole week, a little bit later, just dedicated to that. For now, we're going to continue on with Proverbs 31. The verse today is 27. So Proverbs 31, 27. And it says this. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. I love this. This verse of Proverbs 31. If you have not read Proverbs 31 fully. Because sometimes, right, like, people can take a chapter like Proverbs 31 and we call it like Pinterest, Chris. Christianity that it's like overdone so much that you're like, you took such a powerful verse or such a powerful chapter and you just watered it down to like Pinterest quotes or like Pinterest whatever graphics. But it's truly so powerful. This woman does not stop. I don't know who she is. I don't know who she's based off of. But if we knew her today, I bet she'd be jacked, right? Because she's like, fit. She works in the field. I bet she'd have like seven kids that are all like, gorgeous. I bet her husband would have some like, great job. I think they'd be wealthy, but not super wealthy. But I think that we'd all be like, look at them, they're. They're just amazing. Her kids would be like, happy. This is what my imagination does when I read the word of God, right when I read the Bible. This is like I'm trying to make them a modern day person. Like, who are they? Like? And then I think her kids are like dressed in like. No, we don't need to go into that detail. I just think this woman is the woman you look at that's like up at 5am like her sleep routine must be on point. And like she's just piping out homemade meals like left and right. You're like, who has time for this? Not in like a TikTok kind of way, but in just like a. She's like, oh, I don't even, I don't even like need to like post about this. Like, this is just who I am. Like, that's just so cool. But why? Because she watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. And what is this saying here? She doesn't even have time to even think about being lazy. She wants to watch over her household. And I think one of the most beautiful parts of this is it's just talking about the parts of ordinary life being faithful in the ordinary. Like today's episode is called. She's focused on working in her household. She's focused on taking care of her children. She's focused on taking care of her home, taking care of her husband, really focused on making sure her husband is respected and taken care of. And she doesn't even have time to think of eating the bread of idleness or laziness or can I have five minutes to just doom scroll on my phone? There's no spotlight here on her just faithful stewardship. And I think a lot of us may get caught again, not just women, all of us, men, women, young adults, teenagers, all of us, we get caught in. When's that big extraordinary, extraordinary or extraordinary moment gonna hit where it's like my time and my purpose, when that's maybe 2, 3% of life, 97, 98% of life is just going home, cooking for your family, picking up your kids from school, making sure your spouse is taken care of, or serving your church, hanging out with your friends, being good to your friends, being good to your parents, being Good to your siblings, being good to the people God gave you. And if you're not married, then it's like I said, being good to the people around you God gave you. Being faithful to the house of God, being diligent with the work God has given you. Right now it's faithfulness in the ordinary things, not faithfulness in once I get that project that I've been dreaming of or once I get that extraordinary moment that's maybe 2, 3% of your whole entire life. Many people spend their lives waiting for a big purpose moment while overlooking the significance of daily faithfulness. And this is what the Bible is showing us. There's godliness in watching over the affairs of your household and not eating the bread of idleness. There's something really godly about saying, I don't need right now. I don't. I'm not looking for a big purpose. Extraordinary. Extraordinary. Sorry, I don't know how to say that word. Extraordinary moment. I'm good with just watching over the affairs of my household and making sure what God has given me right now that I steward it to its greatest capacity. There's a godliness in that. And I pray that we can all get to that point. I pray that we could say, I don't know the dream job God is going to get me, but I know God has given me this job and I'm going to steward it to completion where I don't know when God is going to bring me my spouse or children, but I know God has given me awesome friends right now. So I'm just going to steward those relationships till. Till I can't anymore. Till God brings me the spouse. Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you so much that you care about the little things. God. You really do care about watching over the affairs of our household and not getting lazy and not even thinking about laziness. You care about faithfulness in the ordinary things because your word says when we are faithful with the little, then you know we can be faithful with the big. So Lord, forgive us if we feel that the ordinary things are not big enough for us, God. But Lord, help us to steward those little things. Help us to be faithful with the little God, so we can in turn be faithful with the big. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven.
