Faithful Steps

Well, welcome back to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Happy Wednesday, everybody. I hope you've been blessed and encouraged by the last couple of devos that we've been doing. I said it a little bit earlier, but you've been getting a treat because you've been hearing from my mom, Pastor Mary, and she's been blessing the podcast. And let us know if you want to hear from her more. She probably is going to knock out one of us because she's so good. We're going to have to get rid of one of us because she's such a blessing and she's so good at these devos. But it helps when it's a five-week month. So I think we get her in. Whenever we have a five-week month, Pastor Mary comes in. All right. We're going to talk about something today called uh the faithful steps. That's what I titled it. Luke 16, 10 says this whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. And whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. And we talked about waiting yesterday, and I think this ties into everything. But I was talking to a couple girls the other day, and they're in their late teens, but they're almost in their 20s, or they're they're transitioning from their teenage years to their 20s. And we were all just talking about how, you know, this season of becoming a young adult and you're going through college and then you're trying to figure out what you want for your life, it can be very difficult. And there's a lot of seasons like that. If if it's a transition season, or you kind of feel like it's a low season, not a lot's happening in your life. And sometimes as just humans, we chase such big things that we're waiting for the next big opportunity to come and find us, or we're searching for the next big opportunity when all that's in front of us is it seems like little things. And as I was talking to these girls, you know, I felt that from them. You know, when's this gonna happen? And when am I gonna meet my person? And when am I gonna find my career? And what is it gonna look like? When that's a season where God is looking at us to be faithful with the little. You got to be faithful with the small amount of money that you make when you're 19. You have to be faithful with the time that you're given at college to make sure your schedule is aligned. Why? Because if you're faithful in that season, then God knows he can trust you and that you will be faithful in the next season. But sometimes as believers, we can kind of get a little entitled or a little frustrated because God, it's just not happening. But we haven't looked back and actually asked ourselves, have I been faithful with the small stuff? Have I been faithful in my friendships and relationships that I've known for years? Have I been faithful by serving at my church? Have I been faithful in how I've managed my home and how I've taken care of my home? Have I been faithful with the people that are around me? Because God is looking at the big things, but God's looking at the small things. I really do believe that God is a detail-oriented God, that he cares about how we take care of the smallest things. Think about it, how when God talks about or when Jesus is sitting there, he's saying, What you do for the least of these, you do unto me. He's talking about the small things that you might overlook because you think they're not important. Jesus is saying, What you do to those people, you do to me, which shows us that the small things are important to God. The kingdom of God grows through faithfulness, but in ordinary, normal moments, in the moments where we're called to clean the bathrooms at church, in the moments where we just need to go get coffee with that person that is feeling lonely and has been out of touch and disconnected from people. In the moments where a simple conversation on a Sunday in the lobby, you feel like it's not important at all, but it means everything to that person. I love serving with people that are like, hey, I'll serve on the stage hand team, the coffee bar team, the welcome team, I'll sing in the worship team, whatever you need from me. Why? Because they're showing that they're faithful in the little things and the big things. Because I do believe this is a principle that God has put in place. That God cannot and will not trust us with large things, with big things. We haven't shown Him that we're faithful with the little. God values faithfulness over fame, over notoriety, over everybody knowing your name, he values faithfulness. And just know this: the little acts of obedience, they matter to the Lord. The little moments. So if you're young listening to this, the little acts of obedience with your family and with your parents, it matters to God. The little acts of obedience at school, in college, whatever it is, God sees it all. It all adds up over time. And small seeds, I love this. Small seeds produce a big harvest in your life. So hold on, be faithful, and be faithful with the little. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you for your faithfulness because God, we can learn how to be faithful with the little because you are faithful with the little. And God, I don't want us to focus on the much yet. Let us hone in. Let us come in and focus on the little things around us, the small areas of our lives that we could be faithful to, whether it's our home, our family, our relationships, God, our church. Let us be faithful with the small, knowing, God, that we are developing a trust with you and you are watching us. And we thank you for it all in Jesus' name. Amen.
