Faith That Moves | Daily Devotional 1613
Does the way you live reflect the faith you say you have? In today’s episode, Allison takes us into James 2:16–17 and challenges us to move beyond simply talking about faith and start putting it into action. In today’s episode, Allison takes us into James 2:16–17 and challenges us to move beyond simply talking about faith and start putting it into action. Together, we’ll discover that genuine faith produces evidence through the way we give, forgive, serve, obey, and respond when God calls us to take the next step.
We’ll be encouraged to consider where God may already be asking us to move. Maybe it’s making the phone call, being more generous, taking a step toward a dream, or simply obeying what He has already placed on your heart.
Let’s join in prayer and devotion as a community, asking God for a faith that moves and the courage to trust Him enough to take action when He leads.

VoiceOverHey there, we're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.
Stephanie Alessi MuinaGood morning, everybody, and happy Wednesday. Let's dive into our devo today. I'm reading from James 2, 17. We'll start off with James 2.16 in the NIV version. It says, if one of you says to them, go in peace, keep warm and well-fed, but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by actions, is dead. And this is what we're going to focus on today. Genuine faith eventually produces action. You know, it's easy to say, I trust God. It's easy to say, I believe God. I know God's going to take care of me. But here's the question that James is asking us Does the way you live agree with what you say you believe? Because faith is not just something that we say. Eventually, faith has to move. James gives a really practical example. Imagine someone comes to you without food or clothing, and you say, God bless you. Stay warm. I'll be praying for you. Good luck, buddy. Love ya. Hope you're good. I know it's 20 degrees outside, but I hope you find a blanket. And then you walk away. James essentially asks, What good was that? You said the right thing, you said the kind thing, you said the God bless yes, but your faith never really moved you to action. That's why James says faith without works is dead. He's not saying that we earn salvation through good works. He's showing us that real faith produces evidence. If I believe that God is generous, then I'll become generous. If I believe God forgives, then I'm going to forgive. If I believe that prayer matters, then I'm going to pray. If I believe God's commands are good, then I will obey them. If I believe that God provides, then I'm going to be a good steward of my finances because he's going to come and bring me the providence that I need. If I believe that God heals, then I'm going to walk in my healing. And I'm going to start thanking him for the healing he's already given me. So here's what I want you to ask yourself today. Where does my faith need to become in action? Maybe you've been saying you trust God with your finances, but he's asking you to be a little generous. Maybe you've been praying for a relationship, but you need to make the phone call. Maybe you've been asking God for direction, but he's already told you the next step and you're just afraid to take it. Maybe he's already given you everything that you need to get that dream hat moving, to look for that house, to have that baby, to finally step into that relationship. Maybe God has presented it to you and it's right there in front of you. And all you need is the faith and the boldness to step into it, to stop talking about it, to stop wishing for it, to stop praying for it, but to walk into it. Maybe this is your day to finally move with faith. Not just hope in faith or pray in faith, but to move in faith. Faith is not proven by how passionately you talk about God, how passionately you talk about your dreams. It's revealed by what you are willing to do because you trust Him. What steps of faith are you willing to do today? Because you just trust in God. If God told you, whatever step you take, you will not be alone. Whatever step you take will work. Whatever step you take, be strong and courageous, for I am with you. If God is speaking that over your life, then what's there to be afraid of? How do you not believe in God? How do you not take that first step? Faith is not proven by how passionately you talk about God, it's revealed by what you're willing to do because you trust Him. Let's pray. Father, help me have a faith. Help us have a faith that moves. Show me where I've been saying I believe you without living like I believe you. Give me courage to obey, to serve, to give, to forgive, and to act when you lead me. And in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
