How do we keep doing good when life gets tough?

In today’s episode, Richelle Alessi invites us to explore the true meaning of persevering in our daily lives, even when our challenges make it feel impossible. Together, we'll reflect on Galatians 6:9, discovering how small acts of kindness and choosing the right path (especially when no one is watching) can lead to a harvest of peace and inner strength.

Let’s gather as a community to pray and encourage one another to keep growing in goodness and faith, trusting that in God’s timing, every little effort makes a difference.

You're listening to my Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1542. Today's Devo is called Don't Grow Weary. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody, and happy Tuesday. Welcome back to my morning Devotional podcast. My name is Rachelle Alessi, and I get to be with you this week. And like I mentioned yesterday, I'm back. You guys have not heard from me for a while, but I heard that you guys loved Pastor Mary's week because she came in and she was able to help me with the week that I couldn't be here. And we got so, so much amazing feedback from hearing her that I told her, you should just replace me. I promise you, they probably just want to listen to you. She has so much wisdom, and I know every single time I personally get to hear from her is such a blessing. So I'm so glad that you guys got to enjoy that week. And if you have not heard it, go back because it was amazing. But you have me now. I'm back. And I hope that you enjoyed this week at least half with you and yours. But we are talking this week about persevering endurance, and that is such a fun topic. View it as this kind of like working out, right? I don't really work out, but I'm going to start now. All right. We can do this together, hopefully in the summer with more time. I can start working out now, but I'm starting to view perseverance as something that we build up to. We persevere the little things that then help us with the bigger things. And it's like building blocks. And that is kind of what trials look like in our lives. Every trial that we go through just allows us to overcome bigger ones and we get stronger and we gain things. And part of that is doing good. In the middle of trials. We have to still be consistent and do good. And that is so hard because when we're going through something, it's not easy to have the best attitude or to treat people right or to do the right thing, because what we're going through is already hard enough. I know, but there is a verse that reminds us the importance of doing good, and that is Galatians. Six, nine. And it says, let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. And yesterday we talked about facing our trials and knowing that the Lord is with us and the promises that come with us, standing our trials. But there is also a promise that we get when we do good. And the Lord says that in the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don't give up. And we hear a lot in this day and age about not giving up in our dreams, not giving up in our relationships, don't give up in your job. And this verse is saying not to give up in doing good. And I feel like this is such a great reminder for us today because we hear about giving up in very selfish areas and that's beautiful. We shouldn't give up in our dreams. We should pursue our dreams and our. And our passions and our work in our relationships. 100%. We should not give up in any of those things, but we should also not give up in doing good. And doing good means choosing the right thing in the right environment, doing the right thing, treating people right. It's honestly, the things that we don't necessarily might want to do are the things that we need to do. And this verse is reminding us that we should not become weary of doing these things, because these things are just as important. It's kind of like the little things that people don't see, but that we will reap a harvest on them. It shows that they are important. They might look little, like a little seed, but we know that when we put seed in the ground, it grows. It could grow to a big tree, to big fruit, to amazing things. In the same way, doing good will eventually reap a harvest. And though it might look little today, saying something nice, responding with respect, thinking the best of somebody, not assuming the worst, though it might look little, I promise you it's a seed that will grow and that will give you a harvest. And that harvest may look like peace. It might look like you feeling even better about yourself because you know the way that you treated others. And that same way somebody will treat you, knowing that you are doing those things will help you even in your inner peace in your mind, and try it. Honestly, I've noticed that when I can have a thought towards someone and I choose to do right later on, when I know what that person was going through, I am so glad. I am so glad that I chose to think the right thing because they were going through a hard moment. You never Know what others are going through. And if we choose to do the right thing today, I promise you, because the Bible says it that in proper time you will reap a harvest. So as of yesterday, let's not grow weary and persevere in our trials today. Let's not grow weary and let's persevere in doing good. Because we know that we'll reap a harvest in God's timing. So let's pray. Father God, thank you for your promises. Thank you. Because you say that if we do good, we will reap a harvest in due time. But Father, let us not just do good because we want something in return. Encourage us today, Lord, to do good because we know it's the right thing to do. Because we want to be in righteous standing with you first. And that means us doing good even in the areas that nobody sees, the thoughts that nobody hears. Lord, help us today do those things well. We don't have to be perfect, not asking for perfection, but we can have perseverance even in these little areas that nobody sees and hears and doing good, Father, because we know that we will reap a harvest in our life, even if that's inner peace. Father, that's enough. So we bless you today and we thank you already in advance for helping us do the right thing. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it. Your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in. Today we pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
