Don't Forget Holiness

What does it look like to live a life that reflects true holiness? In today’s episode, host Stephanie Muiña invites us to explore how we can pursue purity of heart, even when life gets busy and messy. Together, we’ll uncover what Psalm 15 teaches about a blameless walk, the importance of setting aside anything that might hinder our spiritual growth, and the grace God offers us through every stumble. Using a touching story from her own life, Stephanie reminds us that holiness is more than our actions—it's found deep within our thoughts, words, and attitudes.

My name is Stephanie, and thanks for tuning in today to our devotional.
00:00:36.700 --> 00:00:54.109
We're going to dive into this. This week I am focusing on the things that we can typically forget as Christians. And I'm just here to remind you. And again, it's just to uplift you and encourage you and to remind you of who we are in Christ.
00:00:54.509 --> 00:02:30.930
Today I'm reading from Psalm 15 in the NIV version, and it says, lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent, who may live on your holy mountain, the one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart, whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor and casts no slur on others, who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps an oath even when it hurts and does not change their mind, who lends money to the poor without interest, who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken. Amen. This is my reminder to you today. Don't forget this. God wants us to be holy. He wants us to pursue perfection so that we can please Him. And God always has grace for us when we fall. But he wants us to be strong enough to not fall again. I have a daughter. Her name's Gianna. And I've been trying to teach her recently how to feed herself, how to pick up the spoon, how to pick up the fork, and how to pick up the piece of steak, how to pick up the Mac and cheese and to feed herself. And I have signed up for a mess. I know what I'm signing up for. It's a wild ride out here. But I want her to be strong enough to feed herself. And Gia, she would always make a mess. But I wanted her to learn how to feed herself without making a mess. And truthfully, I have tons of grace for her mess because I can clean it up. That's easy for me to do.
00:02:31.409 --> 00:02:58.360
But she has to learn how to feed herself. Not because I want her to be this perfect robot daughter who has perfect manners. But because my daughter, Gia, she gets frustrated by her own mess. She doesn't like food on her hands, on her shirt, on her face. She wants to be clean. She's a little bit of a clean freak. I don't know where she got it from. Maybe her dad. I don't know. It's not me. But she's a clean freak. And, you know, it's the same thing with us.
00:02:59.240 --> 00:03:16.919
God will always forgive us when we fall, and he's always willing to clean up our message. But, you know, at some point, guys, he wants us to be mature and strong enough to avoid the mess entirely. Because we are not called to live a messy life. We are called to live a holy life. And here's the thing about holiness.
00:03:17.879 --> 00:03:28.759
Holiness is in the heart. It's how you think. It's how you speak. It's what you're watching. It's what you're listening to. It's your opinion of others. It's your instincts.
00:03:30.129 --> 00:03:33.250
Holiness goes down to the depths of who you are.
00:03:33.729 --> 00:03:40.770
And holiness makes sure that the depths of who you are are pure. So my question to us is this.
00:03:41.569 --> 00:03:45.090
Is there something getting in the way of your purity of heart?
00:03:45.969 --> 00:04:18.910
Is there something that we're watching? Maybe listen music that we're listening to, someone that we're speaking to that causes us to speak in a certain way? Whatever it is, is there something that's keeping our heart from being holy? You know, maybe you even have to ask the Lord. Lord, is there an area of my heart that I can purify for you? Is there anything I can surrender today to please you and to pursue holiness? You know, I know that there's people that they fast food, they fast drinks, they fast social media.
00:04:19.470 --> 00:05:07.519
But have you ever considered fasting your mindset? Certain thoughts, certain words, or even topics of conversation? If there's something that's getting in the way of us being holy, then we need to get rid of it. We just need to put it to the side for a little bit. Because we are called to be holy individuals so that we can please God. And I want people to be coming into the church. I want people to see me and to see a clean life. I'm not perfect. I never will be. I have my faults. I have the areas where I need Jesus. But, man, I want them to see a pure heart. And when they see my pure heart, I want them to see Jesus. And that, guys, that's holiness. That needs to be our aim. That needs to be our target.
00:05:07.519 --> 00:05:14.569
Today. So ask the Lord, is there something I need to give up to pursue holiness? And watch, he'll show it to you. Let's pray.
00:05:14.970 --> 00:05:29.610
God, we just thank you first of all for being the standard of holiness and purity. The way that you speak when you were on earth, the way that you walked, the way that you treated others, it was all holy.
00:05:29.930 --> 00:05:40.699
Everything that you do is holy. So God, we want to pursue that. We want to mimic your ways to please you and to ultimately glorify you.
00:05:41.019 --> 00:05:55.579
Today, if we cross paths with anybody, allow them to see Jesus in us. Allow them to see your holiness in us. Allow every aspect of us to glorify you and Jesus.
00:05:55.579 --> 00:06:03.180
Let our life be a story that tells of the wonders of Jesus and allow it to work in us.
00:06:03.180 --> 00:06:17.339
Even now as we're driving to work, as as we're working out, as we're taking that walk. Allow your glory to shine through us And God, today we continue to pursue holiness to please you. And in Jesus name we all pray.
00:06:17.420 --> 00:06:24.860
Amen and amen. So there you have it, your 5 minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today.
00:06:25.100 --> 00:06:40.519
