You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1321. Today's Devo is called Don't Forget Fear. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida.

00:00:14.560 --> 00:00:36.539
And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning, everybody. My name is Stephanie and it is my honor to welcome you all to the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

00:00:36.780 --> 00:01:21.109
This week. I'm excited to dive into this topic because I've been sitting on it for a little while and basically I want to go over the five things that we can typically forget as Christians. And it's nobody's fault, no one's in trouble, I'm not mad at anybody. And I even forget these things. So I've been writing them down, little bits of truth that even I forget about sometimes. And I listed them out in five things for us to talk about. And let me just give you the list really quickly. The first one is Fear of God. The second one is Holiness. The third is Keeping the Void. The fourth is Evil Will be Demolished. And then the fifth is we are Called to Serve.

00:01:21.430 --> 00:01:36.000
So these might be heavier topics, but my heart is to uplift you. I want you to know that God is loving, he is gracious, and the hard side to him, the part that we don't quite understand is what makes him so great.

00:01:36.640 --> 00:01:47.920
So again, heavy topics, but it's only to uplift you and to affirm you and to encourage you. So let's dive into it. I want to talk about the fear of God.

00:01:48.659 --> 00:02:03.379
And the reason why is because we have to know exactly who God is. Because if we know who God is, it'll help us realize how to approach him, how to pray to him, how to trust and live with Him.

00:02:03.939 --> 00:02:54.280
So this is the first thing I don't want us to forget. Fear the Lord. We live in beautiful Miami, Florida, with beaches and the ocean. So I'm very used to beaches and boats. And, you know, you find a beach person or a boat person when they have a healthy respect of the ocean. They know when it looks a little too dangerous to swim in. They know when you should wear a life jacket on the boat. They know which storms to run from or which storms you can just sit through. I have had many waves come and knock me over, and it's everybody has that story of randomly giving, getting pummeled by a wave, and it's embarrassing, and you can't breathe and you think you're gonna die, but then you drag yourself out of the ocean. And after that moment, you never forget the power of the ocean.

00:02:55.000 --> 00:03:13.129
And my husband, he loves to boat. And whenever he goes out on the boat, he is triple checking all of his safety nets. He's making sure that we have communication on our radios, that we can contact an emergency or anybody to come and help us if any emergency were to happen.

00:03:13.689 --> 00:03:32.250
Because he knows that the ocean is something you respect. And on those days when something bad does happen, that's when you develop a fear of the ocean, which in turn helps you develop a knowledge of the ocean. Proverbs

00:03:32.250 --> 00:03:50.979
7 says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. The fear of the Lord is knowing God's power, His strength, his wisdom. You know, we have freedom as Christians. Let that be known. We are free in Christ.

00:03:51.300 --> 00:03:54.819
We don't have to live in shame. We don't have to dwell on our mistakes.

00:03:54.900 --> 00:04:20.779
We can enjoy life and embrace joy in the big things and in the little things. But at the end of the day, we have to respect that our God watches every little thing that we do. God hears every single word that we say. He sees my heart. He sees your heart. He knows my thoughts. He knows your thoughts. There is no hiding from Him.

00:04:21.579 --> 00:04:25.259
So today, walk in a healthy fear of the Lord.

00:04:25.839 --> 00:04:47.519
Seek him in everything that you do. Seek out his power, seek out his strength. Seek his knowledge, his sovereignty, even ask God to show you those things. And remember, he is a king and a ruler. He owns everything in the world. He created everything, and yet he calls you friend.

00:04:48.319 --> 00:05:02.470
So the fear of the Lord should remind you of who you're praying to. He's a king that loves you and calls you son and daughter. So allow the fear of the Lord to embolden you as you pray today.

00:05:02.949 --> 00:05:26.100
Because you're not just praying to anybody. You're not just praying to any spirit in the sky. You're praying to a king. And if you walk around with the knowledge that a king watches you, he helps you, he guides you, he hears you, He. He sees you. Then you can walk around with the confidence that you're protected, but also that you're not going to go down those bad paths in your mind.

00:05:26.259 --> 00:05:33.060
You're not going to allow your heart to entertain bitterness or unforgiveness. Because God is watching me.

00:05:33.538 --> 00:06:25.410
God is hearing me. He's watching my motives. So I'm going to stay away from anything that doesn't please Him. And then when I go and I pray to Him, I know that the King and the Creator of the whole universe is is listening to my prayers. When I go and I do something good in secret, I know the God in heaven is watching me and he will bless me. That's what the fear of the Lord is. It's an awareness that he's around wherever you go, that he sees you in the dark, in the light, at night, during the day, when you're alone, when you're with people, that he's with you and he's watching you. And it's a healthy fear to guide you. Not to scare you and make you shrink away, but it's to remind you that God wants to reward you for the things you do in secret, for the things you do that no one else knows. That's when he rewards you. That's when he blesses you.

00:06:25.810 --> 00:07:45.730
So embrace the fear of the Lord for it gives you wisdom and knowledge and blessings and a loving relationship with God. Let's pray. God, we thank you that you are watching us, you are hearing us and you are guiding us. God, I pray right now that our prayers will now embolden knowing that you hear every single one of them, that you own the cattle on the thousand hills. You created everything around us so we don't have to have a fear of the world. We don't have to have a fear of ourselves, we don't have to have a fear of sin. If we just fear you and if we have an awareness of how great you are, then God we can walk confidently in our everyday lives knowing that the God of all creation is with us and he's watching us. And God that I pray that the fear of the Lord will drive us to want to please you in everything that we do. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen and Amen. So there you have it.
