00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:47.159
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1464. Today's devo is called Done with the Drama. Hey there, we're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody and happy Thursday. Stephanie Muina here, and the title pretty much speaks for itself. I'm going to bring an end to all the celebrity drama and the gossip, so I hope you enjoyed it. I hope it blessed you. Please put in the comments if you liked it. If you didn't like it, just don't tell me.
00:00:47.159 --> 00:01:34.790
I'd rather not know. It'll stick in my brain forever and I don't need that. But if you liked it, please tell me because I need your support. Well, I'm done with the drama for now, and I pray that you also learned some wisdom from our favorite celebrities. We thank you guys, and let's thank God that none of our private lives are put on full display like that. Thank you, Jesus. We are not famous. So I wanted to continue and share with you guys about, uh, something that has taken place in my life recently., and it was a lesson that I learned recently about myself, and it was a small heart change that I had to make, and I wanted to share it with you because I thought maybe you guys have gone through something similar or you're going through something similar.
00:01:34.790 --> 00:02:38.530
So if you don't know me personally, then you, you should know that I'm a very, very driven person. I'm, I'm like always looking for new ways to grow, to develop, to build. Um, I am like the hustle girl. I really, really love that. I've slowed down after having kids cuz there's no other option but to slow down. But I really, really love working. I love new ideas. I love to expand things. I, I love it. I'm, I get so much inspiration from entrepreneurs that built something from the ground up and made like millions of dollars. I think that that stuff is so cool. And I really pride myself in that part of me. However, there was a moment this past year where I did feel like no matter what I did to grow my career per se, cuz I, I work in ministry, but on the side I do a lot of songwriting. No matter what I did to grow that, I could not find an open door.
00:02:38.530 --> 00:02:57.259
And if you're going through this and you know exactly what I mean, how frustrating it could be. I did everything everybody told me, and I learned from podcasts, but I also learned from like real life people that did it, and I would take their advice and copy it, but I still kept getting closed doors.
00:02:57.259 --> 00:03:11.610
Well, then I went into the holidays, which comes with its natural amount of pressure. We moved into our new house. I miscarried during that time, and honestly, I felt like I had a one-on-one encounter with reality.
00:03:11.610 --> 00:03:57.099
And it's funny because during that season, I was so confused and wondering what God was doing with all of this rejection and closed doors. But now that I'm on the other side of it, I am so grateful that God allowed me to walk through that pressure. Because in Proverbs 28: 19-20, it says, one who works his land will have plenty of food, but one who follows empty pursuits will have plenty of poverty. A faithful person will abound with blessings, but one who hurries to be rich will not go unpunished. So it is good for us to work hard, but it's not good for us to strive.
00:03:57.099 --> 00:04:15.039
It's amazing for us to dream bigger, but it's not good for us to follow empty pursuits. It's okay for us to want more in our lives as long as it comes from a heart that's content with what we have right now. And that's where I felt the change in my heart recently.
00:04:15.039 --> 00:04:30.889
I finally felt a contentment for what I have right now. You know, I do not believe that as Christians we should be living with strife and unrest in our heart. That is not why God made us.
00:04:30.889 --> 00:04:56.990
God made us to live a life with grand pursuits, but total trust in him. And if you are pursuing grand dreams, but there's no peace in your heart, then you might just need to have a heart check. And sometimes God will allow those pressures of your life to help you check your heart. It's like a mirror is being hold— held up to your face.
00:04:56.990 --> 00:05:27.220
Why am I not getting this result? Am I the problem? Is there something here in my heart that isn't aligning with the will of God? you klnow, Proverbs 25: 4 says, take away the impurities from the silver and there comes out a vessel for the smith, which pretty much means if you want to make a perfect silver bowl, then you've got to get rid of all the impurities. And sometimes the rejection and the closed doors allow the impurities from our heart to be finally taken out.
00:05:27.220 --> 00:06:04.750
And when we get to the other side of things, even though the pressure is hard and it keeps us up at night and we are just wrestling with God, soon we will be so grateful for the pressure because it made us better, it made us stronger, it made us trust in him more, and it made us more mature. So if you feel like you are striving today and you can't find contentment, you can't find peace, then ask God to search your heart and to bring out the impurities. And over time, you will be grateful because it's going to turn you into the Christian that you've always wanted to be.
00:06:04.750 --> 00:06:15.949
The type of Christian that's just content with whatever the Lord gives you. The type of Christian that just trusts in God. The type of Christian that laughs without fear of the future.
00:06:15.949 --> 00:06:52.759
That can step into a dark situation and proclaim the blood of Jesus over it. That's the kind of Christian I want to be, and I know that's the kind of Christian you want to be. But sometimes it's going to take some tough days to walk through, and it's— sometimes it's going to take some pressure-filled seasons to turn us into diamonds. So let's pray. Lord, I thank you for everybody listening today, and if they are feeling the pressures of life if they are going through a season of rejection and closed doors, God, as much as I want to pray for them to hurry out of that season, I also know the value of these seasons, Father.
00:06:52.759 --> 00:07:08.600
And I pray that they will start to develop a depth in you and in their faith that they've never had before, that they will develop a trust, a faith, and a purity, and in their heart towards you, Jesus.
00:07:08.600 --> 00:07:16.839
Start to stir up our hearts. And if there's anything that we don't see is impure, we want to get rid of it, God.
00:07:16.839 --> 00:07:59.569
We open up our hearts plainly to you, Jesus. Do surgery on our hearts because we just want to be more like you, Jesus. We want to glorify you and your name above all other names. And we thank you, Jesus, for, for being by our sides and by giving, and for giving us the grace that we need to get through these seasons. And in Jesus' name we all pray, amen and amen. So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
