You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1467. Today's episode is called Choosing Trust. Hey there! We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.760 --> 00:00:59.859
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello everyone, my name is Lauren Alessi and I am your host for this week. We are talking about how love is blind. Woohoo! Okay, I heard they're doing, um, a Love Is Blind season in Miami, and as someone who is born and raised in Miami, I cannot wait. I want to see every second of that season of Love Is Blind. I am just So excited. I think it's going to be, um, very entertaining. I hope it's not underwhelming. I think it's going to be awesome.
00:00:59.859 --> 00:01:18.180
So I hope that's true. I hope that wasn't just a rumor. So anyways, yes, that's just a random little tidbit there. But let's jump into the Bible, what really matters, because we're talking about how love, essentially in our verse today, how it's blind, it bears all things, it believes all things, it hopes all things, and it endures all things.
00:01:18.909 --> 00:01:30.030
Our verse of the day is 1 Corinthians 13:7, and it says exactly that love bears all things, it believes all things, it hopes all things, and it endures all things.
00:01:30.030 --> 00:02:28.090
And I kind of get this picture of like that sort of honeymoon feeling love when you're just in love with somebody, or even whether it's a relationship, or when you meet like a new believer who's new in Christ and they just love Jesus so much, you're like sort of envious of that because they just love God in a way that they, they just believe everything, they hope for everything, they endure everything because they just have this fire for God that's so fresh and so new, and it's so inspiring. Um, and I think that's part of like the love is blind. You don't even see what's in front of you. You don't see your obstacles because you just love the Lord. You just trust him, and you know that he's going to deliver you from things. And so like I told you, we're reading out of a couple verses today, but I kind of want— I want to strive for that love for God that I don't even see reality. I don't even see the outside. I just see what God's going to deliver me from, because I love God so much, and I love his faithfulness, and I love what he's done for me and where he's brought me from.
00:02:28.090 --> 00:02:31.770
That I— with that comes the trust, with that comes the hope.
00:02:32.409 --> 00:03:12.939
And I'm also going to read out of Proverbs 3:5, and this is what it says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. So when we love, that love turns to trust. When we love the Lord, we learn to trust him. That trust comes from trusting in God with everything in us. And I think I remember doing actually another episode on Proverbs 3:5, trusting in the Lord with all of our heart, not just a little bit of our heart, but all of our heart, like all of our encompassing, um, I don't even know what I'm trying to say here, but everything that we can possibly trust in the Lord, and we just trust in the Lord with all of our heart.
00:03:12.939 --> 00:03:55.490
And we don't lean on what we know, we don't lean on our past, we don't lean on what we've seen in the past or how it's worked out for other people or how it's supposed to go or timelines that we know. We don't lean on that understanding. We lean on the Lord's understanding. And the verse even goes on to say, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight. But that comes from when we love the Lord with all of our heart and when we trust in the Lord with all your heart. So I guess I'm challenging you today. I challenge myself today. Let's have that blind love for the Lord and let's choose to trust him, that when we see obstacles in front of us, we're like, despite all these obstacles, I still love the Lord. Despite everything I'm facing, I still love the Lord.
00:03:55.490 --> 00:04:21.740
And with that love comes Trust. Blind love ultimately places its trust in God and not in certainty, or not in uncertainty. And when our understanding runs out, the trust for God, the love for God, that's what steps in. And our love grows deeper when we surrender our need to control our own outcomes. That's when the love grows deeper, when we say, God, I let go. I trust you, Lord.
00:04:21.740 --> 00:05:15.620
That's when the love grows deeper. Let's pray. Dear God, we thank you so much for everything. First, Lord, we thank you for where you brought us. God, we thank you for the places you've brought us from, the things you've done, Lord, the promises you've already delivered. Lord, we just take a moment to thank you, Lord. And Lord, we just want to acknowledge right now, Lord, we love you on this random Tuesday. Lord, we just want to say we love you. And if we don't say it enough, Lord, forgive us, because we you, Lord. Help us to trust you despite things we can't see, because, Lord, we don't ever want that to come off as, Lord, we don't trust you and ultimately we don't love you, Lord. Help us grow our capacity so then, Lord, we can grow our love for you and we can grow our trust in you, Lord. And, Lord, help us walk out this week in deepening our trust and deepening our love in you, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen.
