00:00:00.239 --> 00:00:06.879
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1461. Today's devo is called, "Beckham Drama.".
00:00:06.879 --> 00:00:48.899
Hey there! We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everyone and welcome to the My Morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Stephanie Muñoz and I'm very excited to get into this week's set of devos because I'm doing something a little different from what I typically do. It's more fun, it's very random, but I've had this idea for a while.
00:00:48.899 --> 00:01:37.450
And let me preface it with, I get all of my motivations and inspirations from scripture first for these devos. But I had an idea to go over celebrity drama and gossip and pick out some of the most fun stories that I talk about on a regular basis. Because fun fact, I love celebrity gossip. I love all the drama. I love to look on the internet and find the pictures and look at what the paparazzi is grabbing. I'm all about it. And I'm the girl that you can go to to have those long conversations about celebrity drama. So I thought it would be fun to go through the best celebrity drama stories and to pretty much grab a takeaway from them and then bring scripture in and just make it more fun and creative this week.
00:01:37.450 --> 00:01:46.489
So let's dive into it. I'm gonna start off with the Beckhams, and let's start with what happened.
00:01:46.489 --> 00:02:35.359
I don't know all the details, I'm still catching up, but it started with their son Brooklyn Beckham releasing a statement after there was a lot of speculation that there was a growing rift between the two of them. Brooklyn Beckham released a statement about his parents and the pressures that he felt with them, and there were a lot of accusations that came out from that post. And everybody's just been waiting for a response from the family, but we haven't heard any. We've just said— we saw one little clip from David Beckham but nothing has been explained on the internet, and there's been silence. And now people are taking sides. Is Brooklyn a spoiled celebrity son? Are David and Victoria an over-controlling pair of celebrity parents?
00:02:35.359 --> 00:02:46.669
No matter what the truth is, which we will never fully know the truth because it's people we don't really know, I have learned something from this story.
00:02:47.389 --> 00:02:58.590
And that the thing that i've learned is this, family and the positions that we take towards our family affect our life in such a huge way.
00:02:58.590 --> 00:03:21.330
Because if this was between Brooklyn Beckham and his friend, no one would really care. And also, we're talking about millionaires and billionaires who at the— who have the world at their fingertips. And yet a rift between a son and his parents destroys them internally.
00:03:21.330 --> 00:03:29.569
And even though they may forgive each other one day, this is now a part of their story forever.
00:03:29.569 --> 00:03:48.719
You know, the Bible talks a lot about families, especially in the Old Testament. You have Abraham and Sarah, and then you have Jacob and Esau. You have Isaac and Rebecca and their two sons, and is one thing is very consistent when the Bible talks about families, and that is that family is complicated.
00:03:48.719 --> 00:04:35.529
Some of us may have amazing families that we can trust, and then some of us have families that may hurt us. They may be complicated, they're hard to figure out, they're hard to manage, which is very normal. And honestly, if you want more insight on families and how to manage that, go listen to my family's podcast called The Family Business with the Alessis. It's awesome, and we break down all the things family needs. But if you're like me that has to just manage the normal family run-ins, um, here's a small encouragement for you today, and that is Ephesians 6:1-4. And Brooklyn Beckham can probably take something from this. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise.
00:04:35.529 --> 00:05:01.610
So that it may turn out well for you and that you may live long on earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Now again, I don't know the intricacies of your family, but I do know one thing, you can never, ever, ever, ever go wrong choosing to stay godly with your family.
00:05:01.610 --> 00:05:39.259
Which means no matter what happens, and I mean no matter what happens, God tells us to forgive them, to love them, to find ways to honor them, to let them go, to pray for them, to encourage them, to invite them to church. And if they say no, then to just don't get upset at them, and then to just give it to God. Something that has really helped me with family is understanding that if I want to see a harvest of kindness, love, and patience, then I have to sow the seeds of kindness, love, and patience.
00:05:39.980 --> 00:06:09.189
So here's my encouragement to you, don't be like the Beckhams, even if you have every right to, but stay in a position of godliness, and he will show you how to handle things the right way. He will show you how to forgive where you need to forgive. Where to place boundaries where you need to place boundaries, and where to embrace where you need to embrace. You can never go wrong being like Jesus towards your family. I hope this encouraged you today. Let's pray.
00:06:09.189 --> 00:06:56.680
God, we just thank you for the families that you have given us. Even if it comes with its tough times, we know you have placed us exactly where we're supposed to be, and it's to make us stronger, and it's to make us more mature in you. So I just pray that if anybody is struggling with their family, forgiving them, moving past the situation, I pray that your peace will be with them today and that they will have the strength to internally, in the depths of their heart, finally forgive and finally let go. I pray that they will be able to lay their family down at your feet and to control what they can control, which is our heart and our attitude in our love for you, God. And we thank you for a beautiful day worshiping you. And in Jesus' name we all pray, amen.
00:06:56.680 --> 00:07:18.519
So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day.
