All Understanding

All Understanding

Where do we turn when life feels overwhelming and our hearts are heavy? In today’s episode, host Gaby Calatayud guides us through the peace that “transcends all understanding” as we reflect on Philippians 4:7 together. We’ll listen as Gaby Calatayud shares her personal story of navigating grief and uncertainty, and explore how God’s supernatural peace can guard our hearts even in the midst of life’s highs and lows. Together, we’ll learn what it truly means to lean on the Lord for comfort—not because we’re in control, but because He is.

Join us as we come together in prayer and devotion, asking God for His perfect peace to fill our lives today.

00:00:00.080 --> 00:00:03.520
You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1412.

00:00:03.680 --> 00:00:06.400
Today's Devo is called All Understanding.

00:00:07.519 --> 00:00:25.519
Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven.

00:00:26.010 --> 00:00:46.613
This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Welcome back everybody. This is Gabby, your host for the week. And I hope that you guys have been having a great Tuesday. Cannot believe it is Tuesday and it's just gonna be a great day. I love Tuesdays because they're kind of boring, but you can get a lot done. So I hope you get a lot done today on this incredible Tuesday. I wanna read to you Philippians 4.

00:00:46.685 --> 00:01:23.340
7. And it says this and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. I want to share with you a story that took place recently after we got home from our honeymoon and we had a great time yesterday. I was talking about the highs and lows of life. Well, this was really a. This is the perfect example of a high and a low. We get home from our honeymoon, my husband had to travel for work and then he came back home and we were in the middle of, of living between parents houses and different places to live because we, our house wasn't ready yet.

00:01:23.819 --> 00:01:30.060
And so we're already in an uncomfortable position. You know, you're not in your home and we're not able to really enjoy our own structure yet.

00:01:31.099 --> 00:01:34.859
Well, right when about Christian gets home from his, his trip?

00:01:35.099 --> 00:02:03.790
About two nights later, we got a call of just a really devastating loss in our church and the passing of a close friend and somebody that I worked with very closely. I was very close to the family and her sister. And it was a real loss. If you're a part of our church and you listen, you all know that it was something that. It was really devastating and it was hard for us all to manage and also to process and to just. It was something we had to walk through.

00:02:04.670 --> 00:02:11.710
And the one verse that rang in my spirit, it was almost like the Holy Spirit was singing it over me,

00:02:12.330 --> 00:02:23.849
7. I mean, the minute I got the call, the first words out of my mouth was, lord, let your peace that surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and our minds in you.

00:02:24.490 --> 00:02:27.770
It was like the Holy Spirit knew exactly what I needed in the Moment.

00:02:28.330 --> 00:02:46.280
Well, as a believer, you know, we say a lot of verses sometimes, and we might have it in our bios, but sometimes we love the verse. It doesn't really make sense to us, though, or we don't feel it. Guys, this was the first time in my entire life that I had a real revelation of a verse in the Bible.

00:02:46.840 --> 00:02:53.879
Like, I not only can speak this verse, but I can tell you that this is so true and this is so real.

00:02:54.280 --> 00:04:21.540
Because in this moment when we prayed, lord, let your peace that surpasses all understanding, transcends all understanding. Let it guard us. Let it guard our hearts and our minds. It was as if the Holy Spirit put a fence around my heart and my mind. It was like he did it to the sister and the family members. He did it to the friends that were close. It was like he shielded us from any anxiety, any stress, any worries. And here's the thing. It doesn't mean we didn't grieve. It doesn't mean that we're still not grieving. It doesn't mean that he took away the pain. But there was just this supernatural peace that guarded our hearts that whenever I started to get worried or anxious or start to overthink about everything that was happening, and I started going down that road, you know, like you do when you lose somebody, it was like the Holy Spirit would just shield it in. And I don't know about you guys, but I feel like this is for somebody, that this verse is so true. Like, sometimes we. We say these verses and we're like, let this encourage you. No, this is the truth. That there is a peace that comes from the Lord that I can't even tell you why it makes sense, how it makes sense, but it just makes sense. You're not going to understand it, but there's a peace that God provides that guards our hearts and our minds. And if it was true for me in that situation, it's true for you today. If that's something that you need, if that's something that you're asking for, I just. Just ask the Lord for that peace.

00:04:22.430 --> 00:04:45.069
Simply, the Bible says, ask and you shall receive. After this podcast, just ask the Lord. Lord, I need your peace. Maybe it's your job and you don't know what's next for you. And at the end of the year, you know, they always like to make budget cuts or something happens at the Christmas time, or maybe you're expecting a bonus and you don't know if it's going to come in and you really need to pay off your bills and you're nervous about what's going to happen financially, just ask the Lord for peace.

00:04:46.269 --> 00:04:53.660
If you're worried about your relationship, if you're worried about your career, if you're worried about your schooling, your children, what's going to happen?

00:04:53.660 --> 00:05:25.470
Just, just simply ask the Lord for peace. It's not like the peace of God takes away your situation, but it allows you to walk through your situation with grace, knowing that he's in control. I'm going to say it again. The peace of God does not remove your situation, but the peace of God allows you to walk through the situation with grace, knowing that God is in control. That is why we have peace. We don't have peace because we're in control. We don't have peace because we know what we're doing. We have peace because God is.

00:05:26.589 --> 00:05:29.870
And that's the greatest outcome if God's in control.

00:05:30.269 --> 00:06:14.509
Okay, we're good to go. We're fine. If you let me go a little bit longer here. The example I have is it's as if you, you go to heck. It was Thanksgiving. Whenever it's Thanksgiving and my mom is cooking, I know it's going to be good. When I know my mom is in control of cooking the Thanksgiving lunch, we're going to have a good day. If I were to walk downstairs and I saw Lauren or Stephanie or Rochelle or me and my mom wasn't cooking, we'd have problems. We might have a good Thanksgiving lunch, but the moment my mom's in the room, I, I, I know you know what she can cook. She can cook a Mexican casserole. For all I know. It's going to be a delicious Thanksgiving because my mom's in control.

00:06:15.149 --> 00:06:18.589
That is why we can have peace in our situation, because God's in control.

00:06:18.910 --> 00:06:32.589
We may not know how the situation works out. We may not know what he's going to cook up, but we know that it's going to be good because he's in it. He's in the situation. So if you need peace today, ask the Lord for peace. Get God in your situation because we have peace.

00:06:32.740 --> 00:06:36.180
Peace because he is in control. Father, we ask for peace today.

00:06:36.420 --> 00:07:19.550
Lord, we ask you right now that you would give us this peace that surpasses all understanding. Let it guard us, guard our hearts, guard our minds that we are in you. Father, give us this peace today. Let us walk in in this situation, in every situation of our life. Let us walk in with grace and with peace, knowing that you are in control. In Jesus name, amen. So There you have it.
