You are listening to the My Morning Devotional podcast, episode 1428. Today's episode is called A Season for Everything. Hey there. We're the Alessies, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.
00:00:21.839 --> 00:01:50.629
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Hello, everyone, My name is Lauren Alessi, and I am your host for this week and Merry Christmas Eve. I can't believe we're already here. I can't believe it's Christmas Eve already. But it is so exciting. And I hope that you are doing just everything you can to prepare for the Christmas holiday. Some people celebrate Christmas Eve night, some people celebrate tomorrow morning. I live in Miami, so everyone's basically cooking and celebrating at midnight tonight. I don't do that. I prefer Christmas Day morning. But if you are, have fun, enjoy your holiday. Either way, it's gonna be fun. So today we are reading out of Ecclesiastes 3: 1. And this is just so on point for what we are talking about this week. Just being present, being in the moment, being content, being grateful. So Ecclesiastes 3: 1, it says this. For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven. I love this verse because it just reminds us that with every season comes different things. With every season comes different emotions. But that's the thing. It's just a season. If it's a happy season, it's going to come with really great highs and really happy emotions. But that too is just a season.
00:01:50.629 --> 00:03:21.509
And I will just be honest, as I was thinking about this year coming to a close. And like I said yesterday, my heart's just been full of gratefulness, but I just was having a hard time feeling like I just couldn't be content in my season, but, like, I had to be moving on to the next. Like, for example, it's been so many Christmases in a row that I have felt like, okay, well, when's God gonna bring someone I could have by my side at a Christmas, right? Or like, when am I gonna be a wife at Christmas? You know, these are things that girls think about, or at least I think about. Hopefully I'm not alone, but it would just be so many Christmases in a row. I was thinking about this, and now I'm gonna have Daniel by my side at Christmas, my fiance. And that's so exciting and so nice. But then now I, I don't just feel like I can be content with Daniel by my side at Christmas, but I feel like I have to be planning a wedding and I have to have wedding plans and then I have to have a house. So I have a house lined up. And I just don't feel at peace with that thinking process. I feel like after waiting a long time for God to bring me the right one, I need to be in a season of just kind of resting in the blessing. And like I said, as a society, we just get so onto the next. Onto the next. Okay, and maybe it's not as a society, I don't know, maybe it's just me, maybe it's my city and it's just very fast paced. But, and, and tell me, is it me? Is it us as a society? I don't know.
00:03:21.509 --> 00:04:13.539
But I wish we would just get good at resting in a season when God has blessed us. And I love how this Bible verse says, for everything there is a season. And the some latter part of this verse, it says, a season to be sad, a season to be happy, a season to cry, to mourn, to weep, to be joyous, and a time for every matter under heaven. And let that be a reminder to us that there's even a time to just rest in what God has done and not be thinking about the next. Not be thinking about, okay, what do I have to be looking out for for next year? What do I have to be looking out for for 20, 2026? Let us just rest in what God has done in 2025? Let us just rest in. Okay, God, you've been so good. Let us rest in the fact that it's Christmas Eve. I can't believe we've made it. What a good year it's been.
00:04:13.539 --> 00:04:25.600
And if it even hasn't been a good year, Lord. Okay, God, thank you for, for getting me to 2025 and my head's on straight and my kids have clothes on their back and there's food on our table tonight. Night.
00:04:25.600 --> 00:04:47.560
Lord, whatever it might be, let us just rest in the blessings that God has given us without always feeling the need to be on to the next or thinking about something else. Because for everything there is a season. So I pray today as you are preparing for your Christmas Eve evenings and for tomorrow being Christmas day, that you remember that that is just a season.
00:04:47.560 --> 00:04:54.899
Whatever you're facing, it's just a season. Whether it's really good, it's just a season, whether it's really bad. It's just a season.
00:04:54.899 --> 00:05:06.819
And even if you're just resting in God's goodness, hey, it's just a season. Rest in it. Soak up the season that you are in and I pray that this blesses you.
00:05:06.819 --> 00:05:21.290
Let's pray. Dear Lord, we thank you Lord that our lives have seasons, God. They may not all be good, Lord, we thank you that we have our ups and downs, Lord, and maybe some middle parts, but Lord, we thank you that our lives have seasons, God. Because you know what?
00:05:21.290 --> 00:05:36.009
It makes our lives interesting, God. And we learn lessons throughout the seasons, God. So help us to be in the moment, help us to be present in the seasons, Lord. And help us to just enjoy this beautiful holiday, God. And help us to make this holiday all about you.
00:05:36.009 --> 00:05:43.769
Not about us, but all about you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. So there you have it.
