00:00:00.400 --> 00:00:21.440
You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1472. Today's devo is called, "A Compassionate Father." Hey there, we're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time.

00:00:21.440 --> 00:01:23.900
That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Well, welcome back to episode 2 this week with my husband Christian Kaladiud and your host Gabby Kaladiud. We want to thank you guys for joining us today wherever you're listening from, whatever time of day it is. We hope this is a blessing to you. All right, we're jumping in and we're going to continue in this series where we're talking about the love of God and the way that God loves us is through being our Heavenly Father. This is a really good episode because we're going to talk about the compassion of our Father. Christian, take it away. Let's do it. So 2 Corinthians 1:3 says this Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all of our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. It's incredible. And I feel like we can end. The episode right there. Just read it. Well, that's the point of the Bible.

00:01:23.900 --> 00:02:19.099
You just got to read it. Exactly. But, you know, I think the last part is the part that really speaks to me on this because I feel like when we read the Bible, we can be so me-centric and think about, well, how did this apply to me? How can God be compassionate to me today? And I feel like the fact that you're listening to this, the fact that you're breathing in air, the fact that that you are living a life that is currently— you're able to listen to this podcast every day is the evidence of God's compassion in your life. So that last part really means so much more when we think, okay, well, I've felt the love, I've felt the compassion of a Father. And that last part reads this so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Yeah. Like, that's, that's what this is all about. And I think when we sometimes look at it from a point of view of, well, how can this benefit me?

00:02:19.099 --> 00:03:33.879
How can be— how can this be a devotion for me today? Sometimes it's not about you. Sometimes it's not about how you might be able to receive it, but how you can apply it. Yeah. How you can apply it in your own life. How the compassion that the Lord has shown you, you can now show to others. Yeah. Because at the end of the day, those that are listening probably would, in any type of room that they're in, declare that they're a Christian and declare that they have the love of God and declare that they have the compassion of God. But if you don't show that compassion to your peers, if you don't show that to your sister, to your brother, to your husband, to your wife, if you don't show that same compassion, does it really live in you? Do you really occupy in it? Yeah. So, you know, I know this is a little bit more challenging, right, than a devotional, than a traditional devotional here, but if that compassion doesn't flow out of you, how can— how does it flow to you, right? And at the end of the day, the reason that the Lord's compassion flows to us is that it can flow through us to the others, to the others that might not feel the compassion of the Lord but feel his compassion through us, and then be led to Christ and be led to salvation and be led to a life with God.

00:03:33.879 --> 00:04:16.500
So I feel like we can look at it and say, wow, you know, I need that compassion today. And some of us might, and I pray that you receive it. But if you feel like you have received that compassion, if you feel like you do have a testimony that you can hang your hat on, maybe it's time to now flip the script and turn that compassion not for you or not even just for your family, but for people that are walking by you every single day because they're the ones that need that love and that compassion. And can I tell you, in this day and age, they're foreign to it. They are. I love what the verse says, that it connects compassion to comfort. Yeah, that it's not just compassion, have a bleeding heart, you know, go out there and just go help people in this way. No, it's talking about comforting others.

00:04:16.500 --> 00:05:00.230
Yeah. And the way that the Lord has comforted you, use that as an example and a way to comfort other people. And so I think it speaks to two people and two circumstances today. Number one, if you need the comfort, Maybe you've been through a loss. Maybe you've been through a setback. Maybe you've been through an opportunity that you thought was going to be yours and it's not. Or maybe you got a bad report from the doctor. Yeah, well, just know the God of all comfort will be comforting you. That's right. He is here to comfort you. But maybe you're somebody else that you don't need the comfort. Maybe God comforted you in the last year, in the last season, and you're in a place where you can comfort others. Yeah. What God is doing here and saying here and what's being spoken through Paul is almost a mandate.

00:05:00.230 --> 00:06:20.779
Hey, the same comfort that the Lord gave to you, use that for other people. He gave you the perfect example. So we just want to pray over you today. First of all, we just pray right now over anybody that needs comfort. Lord, we pray over anyone that needs comfort from you, Father, that you would bless them with this, that you would go to them right now, Father, and comfort them. Comfort them in their setback, in their disappointment, in, in their trials and the darkness. Father, comfort them, Lord. But we also just pray over our entire My Morning Devotional family that you would put something in all of us to comfort others, that we wouldn't just receive this for ourselves, that we wouldn't just hear this devotional or hear these words from you and go, all right, well, this was for me. No, Lord, let this challenge all of us to make it about someone else today? How can we comfort others? And Father, I pray that you would use your Holy Spirit to highlight people in our lives, that you'd bring people into our lives that we can walk in and we encounter, and that we can, we can comfort them, Lord, with the comfort that you've given us. So we thank you for this, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now.

00:06:20.779 --> 00:06:25.899
